Can you pull the rubber off and take a photo of what is underneath?

I can’t get it off, but lookin at it it looks like one big rubber piece. Don’t know what it’s for though 😞

Honestly I think I’m gonna just try and fix the crt so I can get a diagnostic reading cause I’ve read it can do that. I do have an obd 1 tool but I don’t know if the car needs to be running or not.

The CRT won't tell you why the starter isn't turning the engine over.

Also lookin at my old starter I feel like I missed a wire cause there’s a rubber lookin piece on it that’s connected to the starter. Any idea what that is?

That's a moisture drain tube. No wiring involved.

Does the starter even work? Can you jump power from the main hot stud on the starter to the small start terminal?? The starter should engage even with the ignition turned off.

Don’t know will try it though, I’m gonna start fixing the other problems on the car if I can’t get it running. Don’t wanna waste time y’know.

Update:

I’ve changed the oil and jump started the car a couple times and runs fine for a few minutes then sputters out. I’m going to look at the fuel filter for that problem see if it works. Also the side lights on the outside of the car are always on so gotta fix that, ordered a new switch for the light controls cause that might be the problem. But I’m just wondering now is is that my dash doesn’t light up also the crt. Was wondering if there are any ways I could see about fixing those two.

Are they always on or just when the key is in the RUN position?

I just installed it and it still works, parking lights don’t stay on anymore

You should start carrying a fire extinguisher in the car. Odds are pretty good that you will need it.

That's what my harness looked like after I sprayed my light switch with WD40. Never again.

Also does anyone know how to get to the fuel filter, I know it’s on the driver side on the 88 but I don’t know if it’s front or back

It's under the car, about where your left foot would be when you are sitting in the driver's seat. It's bolted to the inside of the frame rail.
