  1. Decided to try and get some better braking performance on my Reatta. The brakes always felt kinda spongy and like the pads were sliding on the rotors. I have been changing the brake fluid every 2-3 years, but it never made much difference in the 11 some years that I have owned it. Last weekend I changed front calipers and rotors using Delco parts, and some Bosch QuietCast semi-metallic pads. The brakes are way better now. Brakes start grabbing much better without the slipping feel, and I think I must have got more air out because they engage with slight pedal pressure. I think the calipers I took out were originals. They were not leaking at all, but maybe just old and stiff after 35 years. I still have to do the rear pads, calipers, and rotors when time permits. Now that its getting warmer here in Nebraska, it should be soon.

  2. At our age Ronnie, if you have the money and it brings you joy, why not get it? Have fun and don't look back!

  3. About a year ago I sold the '88 Black pretty much at a loss to 2seater's son as I decided I was just going to drive the Red year round. But as we got closer to winter I just realized I couldn't do it so I started looking for the Regal I bought. As it turned out I could have waited a year because of my traveling and the unseasonably warm weather. But it didn't matter we have the money and I wanted a winter car and now I have a real nice looking winter car that I can drive us and another couple without driving a minivan. And my wife was all for it!

  4. There was something I forgot to mention when I talked about replacing the rear shocks. To replace the rear shocks, you have to remove all the carpet panels inside the trunk to get at the nuts on to of the shocks. Getting the carpet out is actually harder than replacing the shocks. When I had the carpet out I looked up at area where the large rear speakers are mounted, and I saw a fairly large power amplifier mounted on each side of the trunk next to each speaker. After reading up on my Mustang's speaker system I found that there is another power amplifier, separate from the radio, mounted in the dash that powers the front speakers. This Mustang has a great sound system and I guess the amplifiers make it sound better than a standard radio. Although the radio sounds great, it uses all buttons to control all the functions of the radio. I like knobs to control a radio like my GMC truck has much better than all buttons.

  5. That was my mindset when I decided to buy my Mustang. Gary has the same mindset. On our drive down to see the Mustang Gary told me it is getting hard to find older, unmolested, Mustangs that are in nice condition. He also said the prices on them were going up quickly on the really nice ones. He asked what my budget was for a Mustang. I told him I knew nothing about Mustang prices, but I was willing to pay $5000-$10000 to get a nice one that didn't need much work. He said I should be able to get a nice one somewhere in that price range. After buying my Mustang, paying for sales tax, title fees, insurance, and about $450 in parts, I'm not at the top of my budget but I'm on the upper end of it. Gary said he doesn't sweat spending money on something he wants anymore. He said he had already spent over $11,000 on the new "Dart" engine he's building to go in the Mustang he drag races. He said, "it's either spend it on something I want or leave it to my daughters when I die". That's getting to be my attitude to. I think a lot of us at our age feel that way.

  7. Do your air outlets switch around as they should; defrost, floor, dash vents etc..? There is the selector for air up and down in that area as well as the outside air door. Do you suppose something is now stuck in one of those? Mouse nest maybe?
