  1. That's a good idea, however what I do is drive the car I have with a weak battery over to the local you pick yard and go in and look at batteries on the shelf. I pick one out, set it on the counter and ask the guy to hold it while I bring in the core battery [ the one that is in the car]. I bring it in, and only get charged for the battery and no core. The selling price is $30.00 and this is an 800 amp battery about a year old.

  2. With age comes wisdom, sometimes. This past week the convertible would not start which was no surprise as the cranking was getting weaker and weaker. The battery was 5 years old so I anticipated its demise and replacement. Instead of yanking the battery and hauling into an auto store for replacement as I have done too many times to remember, I remembered that AAA offered a battery replacement option. So I called AAA and within the hour a truck pulled up, tested the alternator, removed the old battery and installed a new one. I was also surprised to see a AAA discount so the charge was $214 for everything. I think that I did good this time...................

  3. And, Dave gave me two complete Magnavox coil/ICM setups as spares for my sons two cars. Can't beat that with a stick👍 Mine runs the Delco style.

  4. Yesterday with nothing else to do I decoded I would revisit the failed original ignition module and coils that were in the Regal. I cleaned up the plate [top and bottom] of the ignition module, got 2 coils from the parts bin to replace the old rusted ones and reinstalled them. The Regal started easily, ran good when revved with no load, then I took it out on the highway where it performed flawlessly. Got back home put one Delco setup in the Reatta for emergency repairs and another in the Regal. No more left in the parts bin but that's okay as they are now where I may need them.

  5. I have built and sold 6 sets using the method I previously posted in this thread. Once the ECRP ones became available, the demand dwindled. I do have one more set left, less the bolt on sway bar adapters, which can be purchased from the same source I used. Send me a PM if interested in purchasing. The 1996 Regal rear Monroe struts I started with are no longer available, however other manufacturers are available but the welds are much more complicated to remove.

  6. Love the data. ECRP (and Rock Auto) started to offer new struts in late June. There was so much activity around an alternate solution, then poof! New struts available. Once the next 'unobtainium' part needs to be replaced, activity will go up again. For me, nothing to fix since 'Frank' has been sleeping since November.
