  1. If that is the only code you are getting it's not an indication of a problem with a bad BCM. That code can be set by just disconnecting the battery.

  2. I noticed the errors but overall I was surprised that channel had anything to do with a Reatta. They normally are doing truck stuff, primarily pickups and things like that. They are based in Colorado and they have a towing torture test called the Ike Gauntlet. High altitude (11k feet?), steep incline for 8 miles, so it is a real test of towing ability. Maybe gets a different crowd to look at Reatta's😎

  3. Today is my 67th Birthday. 15 years ago I bought the Red as a birthday present to myself. We've been through a lot of parts together and a repaint and I still wouldn't give it up. My plan is to drive it 2 more weeks and then park it until spring. My license plate is an 11 month plate meaning I can't legally drive it in January. That's okay as my wife an I are taking a 3 week vacation to Viet Nam so most of January we''ll be gone anyway. Then February off to Texas for the balance of the winter so I really don't need a second car for me. Maybe next year I'll get a second car as I really don't want the Red to be a winter car. Besides I spent a bit of time replacing light bulbs [cornering lamp, license plate bulb, and one of the high up brake lights], the leak on the Master Cylinder and finally different ABS sensor leads on the front. Baumgharts [My car repair center] did both lower ball joints, both axle shafts and then a tire rotation and alignment. Car runs really good now and is real joy to drive...

  4. I would start with pulling the plugs, cleaning them with contact cleaner and reconnecting them. Just last summer I had a problem with the A/C always blowing cold because the actuator wasn't being told to close the door to the desired setting. I pulled the plugs on the BCK+M sprayed them and reconnected them. Then it worked. Keep in mind you have a 35 year old car and the connections sometimes lose the conductivity.

  5. I looked in the How To Guides at the top of the page and did not see specific instructions for removing the BCM. There are three large harness connectors facing you after you remove the glovebox. They are like most connections under the dash where the connector latch needs to be released as you pull the plug out. The instructions for resetting codes for everything in the diagnostic system is located under the Diagnostic tab at the top of this page. There is a copy of the 88-89 diagnostic booklet which contains all of the instructions, including clearing codes.

  7. The outlet nipple on the original windshield pump in my 1990 Reatta broke, dumping the fluid out. There are several choices for new pumps on Amazon ranging from $8.59 for an unknown brand to $28.05 for AC Delco. Regardless of brand, they are all made in China. I bought the cheap one, which leaked within minutes after installation. Thanks to Amazon's return policy, I sent it back for a refund and bought the more expensive AC Delco which also leaks. There are "weep holes" around the circumference of the pumps which are apparently intended to keep the electric motor from being flooded if an internal seal in the pump fails. The AC Delco pump leaks at weep holes on both sides of the pump. I thought maybe the pump needed to be run to prime it and lube the seals, then maybe the leaks would stop. So I connected 12v to the Delco pump on the bench and it pumps strong but still leaks at the weep holes. The leaking Delco pump will be returned and I will try yet another pump brand on Amazon. It's quite possible every pump regardless of brand comes from the same factory in China. Any thoughts about what's causing the weep hole leaks? I am using Rain-X windshield washer solvent. Maybe I should try a different brand in case the Rain-X stuff isn't compatible with the seals in the pumps. See the photos. There are several weep holes on the circumference of the pump. Circled in red.

  8. UPDATE: after dealing with two defective leaky new windshield washer pumps, I finally have a winner! 3rd time is a charm. The $28 AC Delco was a dud...leaked from the weep holes just like the first no-name $8 pump. Glad I bought from Amazon, easy refundable returns on the leaky duds. This one works, no leaks and pumps strong for $9.99 from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078XY4V3Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

  9. Happy Birthday Dave! Hope you had a good one. I think we got our Reattas close to the same time. I was really happy to get to meet you and your wife in Nashville and park our cars side by side. They almost looked like twins. It's hard to believe that has been over five years ago. I hope you enjoy your vacation and your time in Texas.
