  1. Welcome! Wow, Switzerland! Even here in the States, the Reatta is becoming more rare by the day. I can't imagine there's more than a couple in your country IF THAT. I agree with those above on checking the alternator. Can you or your mechanic test for AC voltage at the battery while under a heavy load? Even a tiny ripple of AC voltage can cause havoc on digital displays. You also mentioned that your battery may be weak. Keep in mind: a car NEEDS a strong battery not just to start, but to provide a buffer between the alternator and the vehicles electrical system. For example, the Reatta comes with a 105A alternator. However, that 105A is only produced at cruise RPM's. At idle, it's output could be as little as half depending on age and condition. 50A is EASILY spoken for by the full complement of exterior lights on a Reatta. Anything more than that, and you're begging for issues. Replace the battery, test for AC voltage, and report back.

  2. Thanks 2seater. Yes the onboard diagnostics work, but I have an ABS light on , plus I like to play with test equipment. I am a retired maritime mobile electronics service guy and like to look at meters.

  3. Welcome to the forum!! Start the engine and go into diagnostic mode. Keep the engine running with the throttle to prevent it from dying if you have to. Once in diagnostics and code checks have completed, go to ECM overrides. Select ES09 to control the IAC motor. Adjust the engine RPM to about 750 and see if the engine will maintain that RPM or if the fluctuation starts while you are overriding the IAC. Let us know what results you get.

  4. For now, I have put on pause the idea of the weld adapter and sleeve nut as there was substantial up-front investment to order a large enough batch to make the price attractive. As long as there are 1990 Regal struts available that can be modified, I feel it is the best current option other than the brand new (albeit pricey) units that ECRP is sourcing. Hang onto your old strut cores though, they will be valuable again someday soon. *Edit* I did not see 2seater's response when I posted. By all means, if someone can use the old struts, go for it! I doubt I will get into the business of rehabilitating old strut bodies.

  5. Pull the codes for the ABS and see what you get' Post what you find here and we might be able to help. Instructions for doing that are in the menu at the top of the page. The part you are working on is the power brake system which is separate from the system that turns on the ABS light.

  6. I am under the assumption that Glass Seekers will find a windshield, if possible, and the location would be determined at that time. It could anywhere, and if you were lucky, it could be somewhere close to you. It is worth a try............

  7. I'm sure mine could use a new O2 sensor, however I'm quite happy with my results. I'm sure I'll see upper-20's soon, as I'll be driving her the ~350mi round trip to the cabin and back this summer. Don't forget: my '91 has 3.33 gears, so 27 for you is closer to 25 for me. The L27 isn't any more efficient than the LN3, as far as I know.
