  1. I think that is a common issue. I don't think the rubber trim molding is attached with an adhesive. I believe I've read that there are studs or clips that attach it to the bumper. I think I remember Jim Finn writing an article about using a heat gun to make the molding conform to the contour of the bumper again but I can't seem to find it right now. Contact Jim, reattas60@gmail.com, and ask him about it before trying it. Jim is a great source for used Reatta parts. If you can't fix yours, Jim will probably have a good used molding to replace it with.

  3. As far as I know, the limits of the motor are based on current feedback, not a switch inside. There is a timer that does stop the motor if it doesn’t run into a physical stop. The typical failure points are the three plastic rollers inside the actuator or the bell crank arm getting rounded out. Actual gear failures would be unusual

  4. Thank you for the referral Ronnie! Just sent Jim an email to see what he might recommend. I hope the heat gun trick will work.

  5. The thrust bearing and spring assembly is simply a friction fit in the nose of the camshaft. Once the front cover is removed from the engine, it is right at the front. Nothing more needs to be disassembled. It is a very reliable piece that I have never had to replace. Caveat: I did purchase one when I was swapping camshafts only because the bored hole for the spring was a different diameter. Edit: The cam button is visible in the front center of the cam sprocket in the photos above

  6. You can weld anything less than 1030 together without issue. The lower the carbon (last two digits, i.e. 0.30% or less) the better.

  7. Regarding Safelite, I inquired about getting a replacement windshield 4 months ago and they said NA. They referred me to another company who searches nationwide for windshields. Their name is Glass Seekers who are located in New York. I did not pursue finding a windshield as mine is okay except for a 1/16" chip. However, I just found the piece of note paper with their phone number 800-345-4527.

  8. First set of struts are done and I have four more sets that will be completed within the next week. I will let each of these sets go for $275 per pair, plus shipping. PM me if you are interested in purchasing. I will ask for a release of liability as these are modified to fill a need where no replacements exist. As mentioned earlier in this thread, these are new, Monroe brand gas charged struts. They started life as rear struts for the 1990 Regal, which are the same base strut as the Reatta but with different mounting brackets and missing the pinch bolt dent and sway bar adapter. All of the Regal brackets were removed, the pinch bolt dimple added, the struts painted satin black (where the brackets were removed, there was no paint). Each strut will include an A&A clamp on mount for the sway bar as shown.
