  1. Hey guys! So glad to be a part of this amazing community. I currently own a 1989 Reatta that was my great grandpas. It’s been sitting since 2010 in his barn and collecting dust. This summer I’m finally able to start working on it and restoring it. He kept all of the service logs and parked it because of an issue with the brakes. As an up and coming A&P mechanic, I’m hoping it won’t cause me too much trouble. Wish me and my 89’ luck!

  2. I think this is for a 1996 Regal… had these for awhile, waiting on donor struts. Gland Nut: Not sure of the pitch, but the thread seems to be 51mm (reads 50.88 on my inexpensive caliper).

  3. It should work. 1. A KYB 366004 strut insert was used. 2. Place absorbent material under the strut, and cut the Reatta strut just below the top weldment. Drain any remaining hydraulic fluid. (If donor strut still has resistance, drill a small pilot hole to relieve pressure prior to cutting.) 3. Pull the inner workings out of the OEM strut. 4. Insert KYB strut cartridge 5. Fabrication is required for a top threaded interface to weld onto the strut that will accept the threaded gland (~51 mm). Need to speak w/ machine shop. The gland nut supplied by KYB has a smaller OD than the ID of the Reatta strut and simply slips into the strut housing as shown below with no interference. 6. Per KYB, do not add oil to strut housing during assembly (see comments later in this post). 7. Install gland nut 8. Install on Reatta

  4. I took Padgett’s advice… 1993 Buick Regal donor. OEM (with failed potting compound): Donor: Thanks for the excellent write up and cross reference information contained on this website. Want to use the concept on a 1987 Grand National… uses the same Magnavox Coil Pack, but ignition control module is different (but fails the same way)… may not be possible, that search continues.

  5. According to Parts Geek: 88 Reatta part # is 2649-07443458 89 Reatta part # is 2650-07443458 90 Reatta part # is 2651-07443458 91 Reatta part # is 2652-07443458 All Parts Geek descriptions say it is for Reatta with a tilt steering wheel. Do the 88-90 Reattas all have a tilt steering wheel? I don't know, but my 91 does. The 86-93 Parts and Illustrations Catalog does not list a part number until the 92-93 Rivieras (7827157). The 88-89 Reatta/Riviera part picture looks different than the 90-91 Reatta/Riviera part picture. The 90-91 Reatta/Riviera part picture looks the same as the 92-93 Riviera part picture. My guess is that when GM introduced the air bag for the 90 Reatta/Riviera, certain steering column parts changed. I hope this helps.

  6. I wonder how hard it would be to use a Regal strut that accepts that cartridge and graft it onto a Reatta rear strut by cutting off the top portion of both and welding the top part of the Regal strut onto the bottom of the Reatta strut? If so would be easier and cheaper than fabricating from scratch.

  7. First thing to understand is the on board diagnostics that display on the CRT. ee the Diagnostics tab at the top of the page.
