  1. Agree. This was exactly my situation. I suspected an electrical issue with either the battery or alternator. I solved mine by replacing the bolts in the both battery cables. Simple fix.

  2. I encountered something similar a few years ago. The dash lights flashed and I occasionally had problems with the engine not turning over when starting. I found my problem to be a bad battery cable connection. There is a thread about it somewhere. It is what prompted me to write this how-to guide. Battery Cable Checks & Repair Check your battery cables.

  3. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to create a maintenance matrix for such components as the IAC, MFS, O2 and others (struts)? I raise this question as many of us have Reattas with mileages in the 50k to 100k (or more) and the concern of declining performance or component failure exists. The matrix could consist of such things as "basic function, problem symptom, recommended cleaning mileage, recommended replacement mileage and/or other considerations." I realize that some of this info maybe available in various sources but I am not award of a single source..............

  4. Apparently, operator error. I believe I had the chip that gave trouble slightly askew in the holder. I reinstalled it this morning and it functions just fine, as it should. Inserting a chip into an actual socket it must be aligned perfectly but the zero insertion force holder is a series of slots that are opened and closed via a lever on the holder. While it is easy to swap chips, it isn't foolproof if done in a hurry. 😖

  6. Barney doesn't have a clue. His database is so old and hasn't been refreshed or updated in years.
