  1. If you short the pins on the ALDL connector to read ABS codes, a "12" means normal operations. All other vehicle diagnostic codes have a letter (E, B, L,...) prefix and are documented in section 8 of the service manual. You can read them yourself, the the diagnostic listing above. Don't pay to train a mechanic, find one who understands GM codes.

  2. Tonight was the first night I was in the car with the illuminated shifter panel from the 1989 Riv with 58000 miles. I swear it is so bright in comaprison to other ones I have I thought I would need sunglasses. Only mistake I made was putting it on the Black instead of the Red. As the Red is now in storage I will swap it into the Red this spring when the Red comes back out. I also installed the Temp control module from that Riv into the Red and that works great as well. From the '89 Reatta I grabbed the headlight switch and that too is bright. Per the IPC [yes that worked too] the Reatta had 104,000 miles. Allin all I did good. The shifter panel from the Reatta was no good, so that goes back.

  3. So... I have an idea, and I need a dead touchscreen unit to give it a go. why a dead one? because I cant afford a working one. and I want to tinker. tinkering can be dangerous to the things being tinkered with. So, if you have one collecting dust and its just to beaten, ugly, or broken to fix I'd love to throw a few american pesos your way to ship it to michigan so I can pull it apart and hopefully make something really cool and useful for the Reatta community. I want to build a modern equivalent / replacement.

  4. I did have to modify that. the eye on the actuator rod had to be cut off the new booster and the rod had to be threaded to accept the eye from the teves booster, which screws off. I just used a caliper to measure center-of-eye to base of rod and made the measurements match with the help of a lock nut... should have taken a pic, my bad. It's kind of far in there to take a pic now.

  5. Sounds like your mechanic isn't familiar with Reattas. All the codes are listed in the "Diagnostics" menu at the top of the page. I don't know of a "code 12" unless he was trying to use a paper clip to check the codes and that's not practical on a Reatta. You can check the codes yourself using the Reatta onboard diagnostic system. Instructions for doing that are in the diagnostics menu as well. Check the codes and report what you find and we will try to help.
