  1. I parked the car under a shade tree for about 40 minutes and when I started it the lights were gone and everything seems OK. another quirky temperature related Reatta issue I guess. The AC is blowing nice and cold now after getting warning messages in the early spring about low refrigerant level. I took no action whatsoever on the AC and the issue corrected itself with the warm temperatures. Driving this car is always an adventure, you never know what lights or warnings will pop up…

  2. I drove my Reatta another 60 miles around home today so I'm satisfied that it ready to drive anywhere. After reading several posts about people having a problem with the sensor getting loose in the bracket I'm going to check the torque on that pinch bolt in the bracket the next time I have the car jacked up - probably will be this fall when I change the oil... but who knows? - the way my luck is going something else may give a problem that causes me to jack it up before then.

  3. Heat can be a factor if you are constantly on and off the brakes. I had about the same problem a few years ago while driving on an eleven mile loop in Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains. I was creeping along in bumper to bumper traffic going up and down long hills that required me to constantly be on the brakes. Before I got to the end of the loop the red and yellow brake lights came on. After a just little longer I lost power brakes. I stopped and discovered the pump wasn't running. We sat in the shade on the side of the road about 45 minutes while the brakes cooled and the brakes started working normally again. Me constantly being on the brakes, and the heat build up in the engine compartment from creeping along bumper to bumper, was the main cause of my problem, but I think a weak accumulator contributed to my problem by causing the pump to run a lot more than it should. You can go to Diagnostic>BCM>BCM inputs and see if the BCM thinks the parking brake is on, the fluid is low, or the brake pressure is low.

  4. Are a number of things you can do. Am sure Ronnie has a like of maintenance like flushing the brake system and use only DOT-3. Other things is to protect when parked: seek shade when out and either store in a garage or under a cover. Avoid high temperatures: crack windows or sunroof on a hot day Protect the interior: sheepskin seat covers and a cover for the dash pad. I drop a towel over the steering wheel when parked in the sun. 30 year old headlights are often dimmer than desired: I like SilverStar Ultras. Good tires are essential. I look only for tires that are superior in the rain like BFG Comp-2 A/S. If an 88-90 then I replace the Magnavox ignition with a later Delco (bolt in) and keep the original for a spare. That said I'd need only about an hours prep before leaving for California on the other coast.

  5. The Riviera Owmers Association held their annual national meet June 8th - June 11th in Branson, MO. Reading through comments from ROA members on the AACA forum, there seems to have been an outbreak of COVID by attendees once they got home. After waiting three years to have a national meet because of COVID, the virus came back to bite.
