  1. I got 265,000 miles on the Red before the engine swap and it was still a good runner. The only reason I did it was that I wasn't getting any younger and I want the Red to be my "forever" car. Kendall was willing to do it, 2seater knew how to get me a few more horses and as they say the rest is history. Now I am sitting on an original 312,000 mile Reatta except for new paint, dash, inner door panels, carpet, sunroof, engine, transmission, rack & pinion, wheels, ball joints, tie rods, struts, strut mounts, radiator, condenser, Headlight switch, CRT, IPC, Headlight Relay Harness, antenna, seats. Oops for got shift knob and shifter panel, mirror and window switches. And who could forget, relays, accumulator ball, pressure switch, pump and motor, cam sensor, Coil pack/ignition module, MAF sensor. [I think I'm done now.] Other then that, yes all original...

  2. If you find out the actual fuel pressure post it here. Better still have your mechanic do the fuel pump tests in the how-to section of this website and post the results. That would be very helpful to help you diagnose your problem.

  3. There's that [taking everything apart] but he has run it for a long time so I wouldn't worry about the wiring. Try two things; disconnect/reconnect the battery and disconnect/reconnect the CRT controller.

  4. "the service engine light came on " if it came on while still running (and not when it stopped), then it set an error code. First step is to find out what it is. Second: when it stalled did the tach go to zero or bounce a bit first ? Third if no code is set then is most likely secondary ignition (coils, plug wires, plugs) Fourth is not electrical then need to measure fuel rail pressure, might have a clogged filter, failing fuel pump, or regulator stuck open. Sounds like something simple waiting to fail in a hot soak. BTW hate to say it but a "mostly original" Reatta with over 100k and a Magnavox ignition is not a good "only car". That said, once sorted the 3800 is one of the most reliable GM engines. I still carry tools and a spare ICM/coils when I take the Reatta out.

  5. Went to a "Dull Men's Club" car show on Saturday in Pembroke, MA. Yes, they actually call themselves dull men, but not boring! (I posted this subject in the AACA Forum, as well).

  6. Was that while you were spraying gas into the intake? Obviously you can't start an engine with a dead battery.

  7. My son has a pretty stout air powered impact, and we installed the bolt the first time using the blue threadlocker and tightened on the #2 setting of the impact. When he went to remove for our second repair, the impact hammered for several seconds before the bolt would budge, and the impact runs at full power when in reverse, rated at 450lb/ft, so I wouldn't worry👍
