ski.dive
Can you take an ABS pump and pressure switch from a 1990 Reatta and put it on an 1988 Reatta? What 1988 ABS parts are interchangeable with the 89-90 ABS? [ not the entire ABS, just parts ]
DAVES89
You have a 1988, look carefully at the tubing that "wraps" around the base of the accunmulator ball. If the tubing on your Teves unit looks like the 1990 then the pump and motor [that also has the accumulator and pressure switch on it] will work. If it doesn't look like it you can grab the accumulator and pressure switch as they will swap to yours.
Aztec62
ski.dive, Daves89 is correct. Talking about the pump, you will have to look for the high pressure line going from the pump to the master cylinder. Older Teves units have a rubber hose, newer units have a steel brake pipe. The problem is that the threads of the high pressure outlet/ inlet are different. So the only part wich is not interchangeable is the pump body. The motor, the inner workings of the pump, the accumulator ball and the pressure switch are interchangeable. Depending on from wich car make the Teves unit is coming from, the electric connector of the pressure switch and the pump motor will be different. While you can easily swap the connector of the pump motor if you are familliar with a soldering iron, this is not possible with the pressure switch. So you should always make sure the pressure switch is coming from a GM car. I have no information about the interchangeability of parts for the rest of the Teves unit. Teves units made for other car makes are looking quite different. Only the high pressure pump (which is the most vulnerable part of the system anyway) is always the same, above mentioned differences considered. Have fun, Henning
