How do I remove and clean the EGR valve?

What is the black plastic CAP on top of EGR?

The cap is simply decorative and the catches are under the outer edge, three of them I believe. The electrical plug is in the center between the solenoids. The valve assembly itself is held in place by two bolts to the baseplate which accommodates the tube from the exhaust. Disassembly is pretty obvious after removal. The moving pintle is a loose fit in the center of the solenoid winding. Just don't mix them up as they are matched to the three different sized flow ports.

Follow Ronnie's instructions. This is what you will encounter.

Thanks for the help guys...I got the EGR valve cleaned up

YW. I hope you get a performance boost out of it. Mine cleaned up nicely but I ended up blocking it off when it did not settle my idling down.
