Relieve fuel rail pressure

The field manual says to raise the rear of the car on to jack stands and unhook the wire to the fuel pump.  Then start the engine and let it run until the car runs out of fuel.

There has got to be an easier way.

What about:  Engine off and cold.  Relieve pressure at the Schraeder valve into a shop rag.  Dispose of shop rag safely.

Honestly, that's what I do. As a matter of fact, the Kent-Moore fuel pressure gauge has a drain line with valve built in.

My fuel pressure gauge has the pressure relief valve. It is handy in that it prevents spraying gas onto the intake when you disconnect it from the schrader valve. A rag works well if you have the plastic intake cover off but if you  have the cover on it is hard to get the rag around the valve. This is the guage I have. I just have about 8" of plastic tube on it. I don't know why they include about 3 feet of clear plastic tubing with it.
