bob pitzer Posted July 24, 2023 Share Posted July 24, 2023 Want to remove outside door handle & lock cylinder for painting.Have removed door panel inside,no access to outside handle.Appears that all lock mechanism has to be removed,but is riveted to inside door skin.Am I on right track?Any advice will be appreciated,thanks. DAVES89 Posted July 24, 2023 Share Posted July 24, 2023 Window down, black rubber boot removed 2-10mm nuts have to come off. I think I used a 1/4" drive ratchet/socket and a ratcheting box wrench. Also I believe inner door panel also has to come off as you need to unplug some of the connectors located inside the door. Ron Walker Posted July 26, 2023 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Hope I'm not too late with the attachment. I had to replace the door handle in my '89, and got the replacement from Jim Finn.
