My glove compartment won't open.

Of course that means I can't access the trunk or filler.  Strange as it always opened before.  I've used the key, even gently prying it thinking it might have locked somehow but no dice.  Any suggestions?

Have you checked the fuse?

For what it’s worth, you can pop  the trunk using the door key and there’s a manual release for the gas  door inside the trunk to the left.

the’88 is an electric popper for the glovebox but I  thought the’89 and newer were a mechanical lock mechanism.

Thanks guys but the lock on the trunk is missing and yes, the latch on the glove box is mechanical.  What frustrates me is that it always opened before!  Seems the mechanism is somehow stuck and just won't release.

It seems like a similar latch to the ones on the storage compartments and ski door, assuming it’s a coupe. Examining those may provide some insight.
