48Rubles
We are getting an error message on the CRT for "door ajar" every time. We just bought car. How troubleshoot/fix? thanks 1989 Reatta owner in Missouri
Ronnie
The problem is likely to be a door ajar switch. This should help you troubleshoot the problem: Door Switch Troubleshooting Guide
kdirk
The door ajar switch is part of the latch assembly in the door. It is a separately serviceable part if you can find the switch (left and right are different parts) or can swap in a complete latch unit with a good switch (assuming the switch is the issue and not the wiring or BCM). As a stop gap, if the switch is bad, you can wire around it to fool the BCM input to get rid of the warning message until proper repairs can be effectedm

Will probably live with this for awhile until we need to do something else. thanks again!
kdirk
The wiring for the door ajar switch is accessible in the door panel (a two conductor cable) before passing through the door edge strain relief and down across the floor pan wiring duct. The other approach would be to jumper the switch inputs at the BCM located directly behind the glovebox so as to avoid going into the door panel. Consulting the service manual for the pertinent wiring diagram would, of course, be highly advisable so the correct terminals and wiring color code at the BCM end of the circuit could be determined before jumping it. Will look it up and post details if I get some free time.
