I’ve had my reatta over 10 years only has 73k miles my dad gave it to for as my 1st car it just sat in my driveway i drove it maybe every 3 to 6 months always started up and ran April of this year fell in love with it got it smog and tagged It failed the first time reason was gross polluter put a new Cadillac converter and it passed. Even with this sluggish acceleration. No check engine light

Getting it going is the hard part once it gets to about 20 mph it gets better but not perfect what are something’s that will cause the sluggish takeoff with no check engine light

help please I really love this car and want to pass it down as my father did for me..

I would guess that if will run at, say, 70 MPH after a long acceleration period it might not be shifting into lower gears on take off.

You could be starting in 2nd or 3rd gear.  I would have the filter and trany fluid flushed out .  Good place to start... I don't know if the engine diagnostics will catch this...

The post above brings up a good point, check the simple stuff. In this case, you can watch the built in diagnostics to see what gear it is in, as  well as most of the sensors. You should verify actual fuel pressure, verify the quality of the spark, check the ignition module for a sticky ooze if it is the original Magnavox style. Verify throttle position sensor and ignition timing in diagnostics. All that info is at your fingertips from the drivers seat. Catalytic converter replaced but was the intake system checked in smog inspection?
