calebsscarlet
Hi all, I'm a newbie to the Reatta community. Just purchased a 1988 Buick Reatta a few days ago and working out a few kinks. One of those is the radio. The radio will scan, tune to a station, but all I hear from the speakers is crackling and popping like a radio station that has dead air. I am trying to use a Bluetooth device that broadcasts through a station through the radio but ever station I tune to, nothing. Even without using the device the radio will not play. When I went looking for the problem I discovered that the antenna had been disconnected but when I reconnected it, there was still nothing. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Ronnie
Welcome to the forum! Popping and crackling is usually cause by bad capacitors in the radio and/or bad speakers. The original speakers have paper cones and will rot and come apart over time. Reatta Owners Journal - Radio Capacitor Replacement 1
calebsscarlet Posted June 5, 2024 Topic Author Share Posted June 5, 2024 I figured out my problem. The balance of the speakers was off. The radio had been situated to play from the only speaker that wasn't working. When I rebalanced the sound it started to play. Something so simple I just didn't think to check! Thanks!
