alec2538
I did the upgrade last week on my '91, and I couldn't be happier. It's a direct, bolt-in affair and the results are fantastic. Much faster cranking speed, less current draw, and SO much more compact! I got lucky and scored a reman starter on closeout from Rockauto for $36 with no core. Normally, expect to pay ~$125. 2seater
What type of starter was in you car? I know my 1990 FSM shows both the old school and the reduction starter. My car and my sons 89 both came with reduction starters?
Ronnie
Mine has a reductions starter that I believe is original to the car.
DAVES89
Mine is a reduction starter. But it's still a good deal.
alec2538 Posted June 14, 2023 Topic Author Share Posted June 14, 2023 My '91 definitely had the original starter, and it was the direct drive monster.
