darwin-t
My grandson's 1989 Reatta runs rough. I pulled spark plug wires from the ignition coil one at a time while it was and the second one down on the left side for the number 5 cylinder did not send sparks to ground. Before I replace it I want to make sure it is the coil and not something that sends the signal to fire to the coil. Thanks.
2seater
The other part of the package is the Ignition Control Module below the coils. Due to the nature of waste spark system, if you lose one cylinder you often lose the mate on the same coil. Edited June 3, 2023 by 2seater
darwin-t Posted June 5, 2023 Topic Author Share Posted June 5, 2023 Thank you for the reply. I figured it out. The spark plug with for the number 5 cylinder got into the fan and got cut in half. Driving it that way caused that part of the coil to go bad. Replacing the coil and spark plug wire fixed it.
