markfield Posted January 18, 2023 Share Posted January 18, 2023 Have a new (to me) 1990 Convertible. Been starting up fine with new battery, fluids, etc. but this morning won't start. Security light on the dash. Wondering if there is a start prevention electrical function. Otherwise, can't figure out what is causing the problem. Ronnie Posted January 18, 2023 Share Posted January 18, 2023 Welcome to the forum. There is a Theft Deterrent System that can prevent the engine for turning over. There is a chip in the key that is read by the lock on the steering column. First step is to try cleaning the key and see if that helps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
