I found raising the rear of the car, like on stands or ramps, lowers the nose. This makes it easier to lean over the engine from the front and I place a cushion from something like an outdoor chaise lounge across the engine and front end to allow laying out on top of the engine,

I think your way is a lot easier than the way I did it when I changed my spark plugs. I hope I don't need to get back there again for a long time.

OK, It's out and the new one is in, not bolted in yet, as I have to cut the tailpipe so that the new header fits all the way down.  I did need to drain the transmission and pull the dipstick tube. Also the heat shield on the firewall needs to be removed. And three of the rocker arms need to be removed.  However the blower motor was not removed.  Tomorrow I will cut the tailpipe and finish installing the header. Then all of the rest has to be put back, then off to the muffler shop for the new 2 1/2 inch exhaust.

BTY. The engine moves not. I tried the strap thing and it did not move.

The valve cover and three rockers and I had enough room to get it in.

Plus I had to bend one of the brackets that hold the heat shield.
