Posti
I drove my 1989 Reatta to the Charlottte Auto Fair and AACA National Show held this weekend. It is about a 700-mile round trip, and though I have put more than 2500 miles on the car since November, I was still a little nervous about a long road trip. I need not have worried - the car rolled up and back with no issues at all and managed 28 MPG! I had the car registered for High percentage of Original Features (HPOF), though I left early today and probably voided any potential awards. The drive was more comfortable than in my daily driver Sonata, and I arrived without back or leg aches after 5.5 hours. There was one other Reatta at the Auto Fair, a white 1989 with red interior that had an asking price of $4500. I figured that would be it, until talking with a Cadillac Allante owner at the AACA show today. He told me there were a bunch of Reattas on display inside the racetrack, and I went off in search. There were, in fact, TEN Reattas on display - I got to visit with some of the owners, and looked at all of the cars. They were not all local, of course - some had driven a fair distance to be there. It was great to see the cars, and I followed up with a smooth trip home.
Ronnie
Nice photos. Did you encounter any snow? Snow was predicted in the mountains around Asheville, NC
Posti Posted April 10, 2017 Topic Author Share Posted April 10, 2017 No snow - just some light rain on the way up, and a lot of wind. It was a bit cool, but mostly sunny. And I did get my HPOF Certification, even though I slipped out of the show a couple of hours early. The Reatta got rewarded with a new glove box latch yesterday ($2.50 from Pick N Pull). Oddly - I did not get the Engine Control error once over the long trip, but it came up a dozen times yesterday.
Ronnie
In your photo of all the Reattas lined up there is a gray Reatta that is black below the bumper around the grill and fog lights. Did anyone else notice that. I've never seen that before. It give the front of the Reatta a different look. I wish I had been there to look it over. kdirk
Ronnie, I cranked up the brightness while looking at the picture again and the grey car at rear left has black body moldings, but the lower front bumper skin is body color. It looks dark (almost black) due to the way it is shadowed in the picture.
Ronnie
I guess it is just a shadow but the third car from the left on the front row should looks dark gray or black on my monitor. I will try enlarging the photo and making it lighter to see what it looks like.
Nittany
In the photo with several Reatta's, I recognize a few of NCReatta' vehicles from his website such as the white with grey top vert. I believe he hosts a gathering for Reatta's at Charlotte. His website shows vehicles he owns or has worked on.
Posti Posted April 14, 2017 Topic Author Share Posted April 14, 2017 Here are some of the Reattas that were at Charlotte - note that the gray one does appear to have a dark lower bumper, but I think that was shadow. The cars were in a dark area that did not help photography. Here are the rest, including mine.
Ronnie
Thanks for posting the photos. Nice looking cars. Good to see so many together in one place. Is yours the one that was parked outside? If so were you asked to park with the others?
Posti Posted April 14, 2017 Topic Author Share Posted April 14, 2017 The Reatta display was part of a separate show by car clubs staged within the Speedway stadium building. My car was part of the Antique Automobile Club of America's Southeastern Spring Meet, being held outside. Worked out better, as I left early to drive back home to Virginia.
